Far South Coast filmmaker Toni Houston has won a prestigious award of excellence in the Impact DOCS Awards competition.

The award recognises Ms Houston’s feature documentary titled Being Change which chronicles the life, work and legacy of Alexandra Seddon.
Being Change focuses on Ms Seddon’s work in the Bega Valley, establishing the wildlife and community sanctuaries of Potoroo Palace, Panboola Wetlands, Cowsnest Community Farm and Batty Towers.
“It’s a thrill to receive this accolade, in a competition attracting entrants from around the world,” Ms Houston, a former Eden Magnet journalist, said.
“Impact DOCs Awards is dedicated to recognising ‘films that make a difference’, and Alexandra’s story is a true model for the world,” she said.
The Impact DOCs Awards are now in their second year.
Documentaries were received from 30 countries, and included entries from veteran award-winning filmmakers to fresh new talent.
Being Change premiered at The Picture Show Man in Merimbula last November.
Ms Houston said “huge credit” was due to Candelo composers Kate Burke and Pete Wild who wrote the original score, and also Raymond Toms for his drone work in Being Change.
