After more than 30 years in the police force, Chief Inspector Greg Flood, has been awarded an Australian Police Medal in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours, for his leadership.

Apart from his regular leadership duties at Batemans Bay Police, his leadership has been well demonstrated during times the community was in crisis.
"Working with other agencies has been a pleasure in this role, especially within the Eurobodalla and the Far South Coast during my time here," he said.
During the 2018 Tathra Bushfires, he provided vital assistance in the emergency evacuation of the residents and support to the combat agency.
He was also recognised for his leadership and professionalism during the 2019-2020 South Coast fires as the local Emergency Operations Controller.
He coordinated the police response to the Currowan and Clyde Mountain fires, resulting in the management of multiple emergency services, evacuation of town residents, coordination of road closures, and simultaneously dealing with public unrest and looting in the Batemans Bay area.
Mr Flood did not expect to receive such recognition and appreciated the nomination.
"It's certainly great to be acknowledged like this and receiving the Australian Police Medal is certainly something to be proud of, but what's more gratifying is having people who will actually take the time to nominate you," he said.
"It's quite an extensive process and for them to take the time to do this is greatly appreciated.
"There are so many police I have worked with who would be worthy of such recognition and I have to acknowledge those people, who have no doubt assisted in some way, in getting me where I am today."
Career
Mr Flood joined the New South Wales Police Force in 1990 as a Probationary Constable. He started general duties at Cabramatta Police Station in the Blacktown Police District, later transferring to Brewarrina in the Bourke Patrol between 1994 and 1997.
In 1997, he transferred to the Moruya Police Station in the Monaro District where he continues his long and distinguished career as an operational police officer.
He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2002 as a team leader at Moruya, and transferred to the Camden Local Area Command in 2007.
In 2008, he was promoted to the rank of Inspector, and began his role as a Duty Officer. In 2010, he returned to the Eurobodalla shire and continued his career as an Inspector in what was then, the Far South Coast Local Area Command.
More recently, he became the officer in charge of the Batemans Bay Sector in the now South Coast Police District.
