Cobargo Bushfire Relief Centre (CBRC) has been the recipient of a grant from the Maritime Union of Australia, which will enable it to continue operating until the end of December this year.

"We gave our commitment to the people of Cobargo and throughout the coast that the South Coast Labour Council and our affiliates will not rest until the coast recovers and is rebuilt after the devastating fires," secretary of the South Coast Labour Council Arthur Rorris said.
"This grant from the Maritime Union is another example of that commitment and recognises the amazing work that is being done by this Centre at Cobargo and the volunteers that make it happen."
Operations and administrative costs of the CBRC are funded by a grant received from the Cobargo Community Bushfire Recovery Fund.
CBRC staff members Danielle Murphy, Chris Walters and Liz Martin said they were "extremely grateful" to the two organisations that provided funding assistance, but that there is still a desperate need in the community for support.

"Whether it be materials, household items, advocacy with Government departments and Not for Profit organisations, as well as mental health assistance and referrals to organisations which can assist."
People who have been affected by the bushfires are welcome to the centre, to browse the items in store, such as clothing, bedding, tools, household goods, or just to drop in for a chat, or ask advice regarding where to seek assistance for any number of issues.
The Centre is also often able to source items which may not be immediately available, so if there is anything required, people can drop in and ask if we can assist with sourcing items. There is also free wi-fi available and a printing and scanning service.
The Cobargo Bushfire Relief Centre is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am until 3pm and on Saturdays from 10am until 1pm.
